Saturday 13th - bike ***** - Two Rivers via Falkenham Church – Sunny and warm:).

After three days of poor warm, summer returns to Felixstowe with wall to wall sunshine, so spent morning in our garden doing my exercises and repairing my old foil board so I can get out flying once more while the search continues for a dedicated foil board! Then with sandwich packed we set off on our bikes past the Grove Park to Marsh Lane with the sky my favourite colour a beautiful blue with some lovely wispy clouds, just stunning! Coming out near Kings Fleet we had already spotted a Sky Lark and Reed Bunting with a Kestral sitting on a post:) Then up onto the Deben path and it was lovely and quiet too with our plan to stop at the picnic benches at the water ski jetty but two of the tables were taken so we continued to the first path off to Falkenham Church which follows a dyke with noisy birds crossing a couple small wooden bridges coming out just short of the church. Our seat near ‘Emily’ was free and we enjoyed our cheese and ham sandwich with brilliant views down to the River with several yachts slowly moving past in the light airs. Loads of pigeons flitting past, followed by a distant Buzzard with the highlight being a couple of hares in the field opposite! After enjoying the peace and quiet we continued on over our recently discovered bridle ways past the pretty potato field still in full bloom! A quick stop at Walton Co-op the Mag turns for home and I continue down to the Dock viewing point and I have never seen it this busy before with families on the beach by the River Orwell. On to Landguard reserve reaching the even busier prom, social distancing seems to be a thing of the past now!!!! And home, another lovely bike ride mainly away from the crowds, out 3 hrs. 30 mins. covering over 16 miles:) Perhaps more of the same tomorrow too!
